THE GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION

The GDPR states that the storage and processing of personal information must be lawful. There are several lawful options, of which MBSGB has two:-

CONTRACT
Members are offered membership, the terms and conditions of which include the provision of the Society’s journal, “The Music Box” four times per year and the requirement, in extraordinary circumstances to contact members between journal issues. In accepting and paying for membership, a member enters into a contract with MBSGB. Personal information, consisting of a member's name and postal address, is an essential component of the contract since these data items are required in order to meet the above requirements. This is considered to be a lawful basis for storing and processing these items of members’ personal information and so no further action is required is this respect by either MBSGB or its members. If MBSGB is requested to delete these items at any time, it will be unable to fulfil the contract of membership.

PERSONAL DATA & THIRD PARTIES. THESE ITEMS OF PERSONAL DATA ARE PASSED TO ONE THIRD PARTY ONLY, THE PRINTER of "THE MUSIC BOX" FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAILING THE JOURNAL, AND IS IDENTIFED IN THE ISSUE CONCERNED.

CONSENT
In addition to name and postal address, MBSGB sometimes stores and uses the following data for the purpose(s) indicated:-

Telephone Number For MBSGB to contact the member
For MBSGB to pass to other members
E-mail Address For MBSGB to contact the member
For MBSGB to pass to other members

These items of additional data are collected when a member joins the Society, completes a membership renewal form, pays for goods or services by PayPal, or registers for a national meeting. They are not essential under the contract of membership, but do enable MBSGB to keep members up to date between journals, and members to contact each other. Members are therefore invited below to consent to the storage and processing of these additional data items solely for the purposes identified above; once given, consent may be withdrawn at any time by giving due notice to MBSGB. If consent is not given or is withdrawn, MBSGB will not store them.

THE 2022 MBSGB MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY

The Society last produced a Membership Directory in 2008/2009. It included Member's contact details & specific interests.  This opened a friendly and useful door to help members connect and enjoy the subject we love.  The 2021 AGM directed that a new Membership Directory be produced, based on 2022 Membership; this new Directory will be subject to the provisions of the GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATIONS and so will not be in the public domain with only Society Members having access to the information it will contain.

Should you wish to be included in the 2022 Membership Directory, please complete the relevant section in the form on the right.  Completing and sending the form will authorise MBSGB to include your supplied details in the 2022 Membership Directory.  When completed the form will be automatically e-mailed to: musicalboxsociety@hotmail.co.uk.

If you wish to give your consent to the storage and use of your email and/or telephone number, please complete the form below and click SEND.
