The Society Archives provide a comprehensive reference source
on Mechanical Music. Members can submit enquiries to the Archivist
who will find matching documentation and provide copies where possible.
In some circumstances it may be possible for items to be loaned
for short periods. The Archive contains journals from most English,
US and European Societies, (in some cases dating back to their inception),
many books and leaflets on Mechanical Music, Auction catalogues,
Traders literature (old and new), Tune Lists, Technical leaflets,
Museum and Festival leaflets, advertisements, CDs, Audio tapes,
Films, photographs and other memorabilia donated by members.
Tune Lists
The Society is also compiling Tune lists of ALL mechanical musical
instruments, from Pianola, player organ, organette, disc musical
boxes etc. Members send in lists of tunes in their collection and
from the tune number, title and composer the original catalogues
are re-created. These can be used to identify titles where they
are illegible on 100 year old music, or just to establish what tunes
might be obtainable for a particular instrument.
The current lists are shown below - (click on the name to open the
pdf file). If you have tunes not shown in the lists, please send
details to the Archivist using the "Information" form
at the bottom of the page.
